Most travelers to the Grand Strand do not have Conway on their radar. Conway is generally a pass-through town on the way to the beach. This is unfortunate because there are a few places that make Conway a little different than some of the other cities along the Grand Strand. If you don’t want to stay in Conway, don’t rule it out as a place to visit. Conway is on the National Register of Historic Places. Being one of the oldest cities in South Carolina with at least 31 historic sites there is a lot of history to uncover in this small city.
Get the small-town feeling by taking a walk through the historic district of Conway. Main Street is where most of the action starts. You will find a few great restaurants and unique mom and pop shops along with some historic buildings along the streets of Conway. You will find a peaceful place to take a break from all the tourist attractions of the Grand Strand. If you love festivals, be sure to check your calendar for events that happen throughout the year.
